DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION SYSTEM (DAF)

Aveka Çevre

Micro Flotation DAF is a new technology and offers many advantages over conventional DAF system with its high removal of total suspended solids (TSS) and fat, oils & grease (FOG). The dense micro bubbles increase the surface area and thus surround the emulsified oils and particles which rises to the top of the mixture forming a sludge mat, which can then be skimmed off and disposed of easily and effectively.

In a traditional DAF system, there is a recycle pump pumping, a compressor pressurising and a separate pressure vessel holding the white water that needs complicated operation. Equipment requirement in the conventional and micro flotation DAF:

Process:

Inlet Pump pumps raw effluent into the flotation tank. Micro air bubbles adhere to the solids within the incoming flow and float the contaminates to the top, heavy particles settle to the bottom of the flotation zone hoppers. Floated contaminates rise to the surface and are removed by the scraper system to the scum hopper. A percentage of treated effluent is pumped through the DAF pump and recycled to the flotation zone. The remaining treated effluent leaves the DAF system, for further processing or to local drainage. Coagulation and flocculation steps can be added if needed.

Units:

  • Inlet Pump
  • Saturation pump
  • Air separation tank
  • Flotation tank with surface scraper
  • Coagulation/ flocculation process (if needed)
  • Control Panel with HMI

Highlights:

  • Easy to assemble: The micro flotation DAF system contains only the DAF pump in contrast to the equipment density in the conventional DAF System. It eliminates excess pipe connections and complex construction in a conventional DAF system; solution tank, compressor and ejector are not needed. It provides an ideal solution to increase process capacity.
  • High Treatment Efficiency: The size of the microbubbles is 20-30 µm. It provides 80-90% oil removal efficiency. In cloud view, it produces high density microbubbles, so that the contact time with the wastewater is longer than with the conventional system.
  • User friendly operation: Thanks to its simple structure and uncomplicated operation, it is very easy to operate. Water height, pressure, air quantity etc. are not affected by environmental factors.
  • Energy Saving: It provides a significant advantage in electricity expenses as the power consumption is only a microbubble generator.
  • Unique Design: It produces high density micro bubbles thanks to its special design. In pump suction, it mixes air and water. It doesn’t use any solution tank, compressor, or ejector. The main functions of the system are SUCTION, MIXING and POWERFUL feeding.
